Highway 68 Resurfacing Project Between Minneota and Marshall Completed

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced the completion of the Highway 68 resurfacing project between Minneota and Marshall.

This extensive project, spanning from North Grant Street in Minneota to the intersection of Highway 59 in Marshall, aimed to provide an improved road surface for a smoother ride.

Notably, the city of Ghent was excluded from this phase and will be resurfaced at a later date.

Central Specialties, Inc. served as the contractor for this $3.1 million project, ensuring a high-quality finish and enhanced driving experience for all motorists.

Rabies Warning: Minnesota Sees Uptick in Cases, Public Urged to Vaccinate

State officials are urging Minnesotans to vaccinate their pets, horses, and cattle against rabies due to a rise in cases in southwestern Minnesota's Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, and Rock counties, as well as in central Minnesota's Stearns County.

Minnesota usually reports three to five rabies cases annually in skunks, a primary carrier of the disease, but this year, 12 cases have been recorded so far.

Additionally, 24 people have needed rabies shots due to exposure or suspected contact with a rabid animal.

Rabies is nearly 100 percent fatal in humans if not treated promptly.

If you or someone you know may have been exposed, especially through contact with a bat, contact your healthcare provider immediately or call the state Health Department at 651-201-5414.
