A 16-year-old from Marshall was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision on Minnesota Highway 23, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred when a Harley Davidson XL1200 motorcycle, operated by Jaron Robert Kramer, struck the rear of a Subaru Forester while both vehicles were traveling southbound near the intersection of Travis Road.

Kramer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru, 67-year-old Phyllis Kay Kennebeck of Lake Wilson, was not injured in the incident.

Authorities said the roadway was dry at the time of the crash. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Highway 14 Slope Repair Project Begins Near Lake Yankton

A slope stabilization project along Highway 14 near the southwest end of Lake Yankton is scheduled to begin Friday, Aug. 1, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced.

The work will include improvements to the drainage system, the addition of curb and gutter, a new pavement shoulder, and the installation of guardrails to enhance road safety in the area.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to a single lane, with vehicles routed onto the shoulder opposite the active work zone. Motorists are advised to slow down and remain alert for crews and equipment in the area.

The $307,000 project is being carried out by Town & Country Excavating, LLC, and is expected to be completed by Aug. 22, pending weather conditions.
