Marshall Man Arrested in Domestic Assault Case

A 34-year-old man from Marshall was arrested Wednesday evening following a domestic incident reported in the city.
Marshall Police responded to a call around 7:21 p.m. in the 1400 block of South 4th Street.
After conducting an investigation at the scene, officers took the man into custody on charges of domestic assault by strangulation.
The case remains under investigation by local authorities.
Fulda Free Press and Nobles County Review Print Final Editions

Two newspapers that have long served communities across southwestern Minnesota printed their final editions last week.
The Fulda Free Press & Murray County News and the Nobles County Review officially ceased publication with their Thursday issues, marking the conclusion of decades of local news reporting.
The closures were attributed to a combination of challenges, including rising printing and postage costs, shifting reader preferences toward digital media, a decline in subscriptions and advertising, and ongoing health concerns for longtime publisher Jerry Johnson.
The end of publication also marks the close of a 50-plus-year career in community journalism for Jerry and Louise Johnson.
Their contributions to the regional newspaper landscape began in 1972 with the purchase of the Fulda Free Press. Over the years, they expanded their efforts by acquiring the Tri County News in Heron Lake in 1985, the Nobles County Review in Adrian in 1987, founding the Murray County News in 1992, and launching the Murray County ADvantage Shopper in 1994.
The Shopper printed its final edition earlier last week.
The Johnsons and their staff expressed gratitude to the many readers, advertisers, and community members who supported their publications over the years, acknowledging the role those relationships played in sustaining their work and commitment to local journalism.
