Willmar Man Arrested on Drug Charge in Cottonwood Traffic Stop

A 20-year-old man from Willmar was taken into custody early Tuesday morning following a traffic stop in Cottonwood. According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle near the intersection of North Barstad Road and West Front Street around 12:01 a.m.

During the stop, deputies conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of the man on suspicion of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. Further details about the substance or circumstances surrounding the arrest have not yet been released.

Adult Night with DJ and Drinks Coming to Marshall Aquatic Center

Marshall’s adults will soon have a night of their own at the Aquatic Center. The Marshall City Council has approved an alcohol license for an upcoming “Adult Night” event, scheduled for July 23 at the city-owned facility.

The license request, submitted by Marshall Community Services, was approved as part of the council’s consent agenda during Tuesday’s meeting. The event will be open exclusively to guests age 21 and older and will include food, games, music by a deejay, and prize giveaways. Beverages will be served by the Hitching Post.

Admission to the event is $10. Since the Aquatic Center is a city-owned property, a special license was required to allow alcohol service.
