Two Injured After Motorcycle Hits Deer in Yellow Medicine County

A motorcycle collision with a deer on Highway 67 in Yellow Medicine County resulted in injuries to two Redwood Falls residents Monday evening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 8:39 p.m., when a 2008 Harley Davidson traveling southbound on State Highway 67 struck a deer near 254th Avenue.
The driver, 71-year-old Raymond Cox, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Granite Falls Hospital.
The passenger, 46-year-old Stephanie Cox, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries but was airlifted to CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud for further care.
Authorities noted that neither individual was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Responding agencies included the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Granite Falls Police Department, and Granite Falls Fire and Ambulance.
Downtown Marshall to Host Summer “Eats and Beats” Series

Downtown Marshall is set to come alive this summer with the launch of a new event series aimed at drawing the community together with music, food, and a relaxed evening atmosphere.
The first “Eats and Beats” event will take place Thursday, running from 6 to 8 p.m. on Third Street. The gathering will feature local food vendors and a performance by Broken Oak, a folk rock band from southwest Minnesota.
This event marks the beginning of a three-part series, with additional dates planned for July 17 and August 7. The city of Marshall partnered with Discover Marshall, Small Town Events LLC, and several local sponsors to bring the new downtown experience to life.
“Eats and Beats” builds on recent downtown revitalization efforts, including pedestrian-friendly updates to Lyon and Third Streets completed in 2023. The redesigned space has already hosted successful events like Thursdays on Third and the Juneteenth food truck festival.
Unlike those events, however, Eats and Beats focuses specifically on the blend of culinary offerings and live entertainment. Organizers say the event is intentionally scheduled on evenings with minimal competition from other local happenings, creating a unique opportunity for residents to relax and enjoy the downtown setting.
The city and its partners hope that the new series will become a seasonal tradition and help strengthen community ties through shared experiences in the heart of Marshall.
