Sioux Falls Woman Airlifted After Head-On Collision in Jackson County

police

A head-on collision Saturday afternoon on Highway 60 in Jackson County left four people injured, including a Sioux Falls woman who sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.

The crash occurred around 3:50 PM near milepost 33 in Weimer Township. A 2018 Chevy Silverado traveling westbound and a 2020 Chevy Malibu traveling eastbound collided after one of the vehicles crossed into the opposing lane.

The driver of the Malibu, a 31-year-old woman from Sioux Falls, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered critical injuries.

She was transported by air to Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

The driver of the Silverado, a 39-year-old man from Brewster, and his two passengers, children aged six and nine, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

All three were transported to Windom Area Hospital for treatment.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Jackson and Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Offices, Windom Police Department, Heron Lake EMS, Windom EMS, and North Memorial Air Care.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident.
