Marshall YMCA Welcomes New CEO with Deep Local Ties
The Marshall Area YMCA has announced the appointment of Cindy Rosa as its new chief executive officer. Rosa, a Marshall native, brings nearly 30 years of experience in YMCA leadership, with a strong background in youth programming, membership services, and executive management.
Rosa most recently served as CEO of the YMCA in Forest City, Iowa, where she led initiatives focused on strategic growth and program development. Her career with the YMCA has spanned a variety of leadership roles, including a previous tenure at the Marshall Area YMCA as program director (2002–2005) and associate executive director (2008–2015).
The YMCA board highlighted Rosa’s blend of local roots and broad organizational experience as key strengths for advancing the Marshall Y’s mission. Her appointment reflects the board’s commitment to community-focused leadership and long-term sustainability.
Rosa will officially begin her new role on August 1.
Children Invited to Discover Their True North at Swan Lake VBS
Swan Lake Church in Cottonwood is currently hosting its 2025 Vacation Bible School (VBS), themed True North.
The program began Sunday, June 8, and continues each evening through Thursday, June 12, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at 300 East 4th Street, Cottonwood, MN.
This year’s VBS takes children on an adventurous journey through Alaska’s majestic landscapes, with lessons grounded in faith and trust in Jesus.
As kids explore glowing northern lights, towering mountains, and glistening glaciers, they’ll also discover how to stay focused on what’s true in a world full of distractions—learning that Jesus is their faithful friend and guiding light, their True North.
Even though the program is already underway, children are still welcome to drop in on any night.
Families are encouraged to attend whenever they’re able, whether for a single evening or the remainder of the week. Each night offers new opportunities for fun, learning, and connection.
The event is open to the community and designed for children ages 4 through sixth grade, blending faith-based teachings with engaging activities in a welcoming environment.

What to Wear: Purple, to show support for dementia awareness
Free to attend, no registration needed
First 200 attendees get a swag bag
Includes vendor booths, live music, giveaways, drawings, and food for purchase
T-shirts available for sale
Donations: Free-will donations accepted, benefiting the Marshall Area Dementia Awareness Network (checks payable to A.C.E. of SW MN)
