South Marshall Set for Expansion with New Twin Townhomes

New townhomes are in the works for the southern edge of Marshall, as the City Council approved the re-platting of several lots along Donald Street during its regular meeting this week.
The approved plats impact land within the Carr IV and Carr II subdivisions. A developer plans to build twin townhome units on five reconfigured lots, which will be designed to resemble existing townhomes along nearby Andrew Street.
The re-platting process was necessary because the original six lots were located in two separate subdivisions, preventing a standard parcel split and combination. City staff reported no issues with the proposed changes and supported the re-platting to accommodate the planned construction.
Council members voted unanimously to approve both the preliminary and final plats, allowing the development project to move forward.
MnDOT Bridge Project Near Green Valley Enters Second Week

Bridge resurfacing is underway on Highway 23 north of Marshall, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) entering the second week of the project.
Crews began work on May 12, starting with the removal of slumped pavement and old guardrails on bridges crossing the Redwood River and Threemile Creek near Green Valley. This week, the focus has shifted to taking out approach panels and initiating deck repairs. Construction will temporarily pause at noon on Friday for the holiday weekend.
The project includes resurfacing the bridge decks, replacing approach panels, and installing updated guardrails. A detour reroutes traffic via Highway 19 and County Road 9.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and adhere to the detour signs until the project is complete.
