Avera Marshall Welcomes New Board Member with Rural Care Focus

Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center has appointed Rhonda Wiering of Tyler to its regional governing board. Wiering brings nearly 45 years of experience in health care, including leadership roles across multiple areas of the Avera system.

Her most recent position was vice president of Clinical Growth and Innovation at Avera@Home, the organization’s home care and hospice division, where she served for 12 years.

She also spent eight years focused on quality initiatives within Avera and began her health care career at Avera Tyler, where she worked for 24 years. Her responsibilities there included leadership in home care, clinical operations, long-term care, and hospital management.

Wiering has also contributed her expertise to several state and national councils and committees, including those organized by the American Hospital Association, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the South Dakota Association of Health Care Organizations.

Her appointment to the Avera Marshall board adds to a body that oversees local governance for the health care system, comprising both community members and Avera representatives.

Wiering’s background in rural health care is expected to support ongoing efforts to enhance regional health services.

Taste Your Way Through the State at Marshall’s Made in Minnesota Festival This Saturday

Marshall’s celebration of local flavor is returning this Saturday, inviting beer and wine lovers to raise a glass to some of the best craft beverages the state has to offer.

The Made in Minnesota Craft Beer and Wine Festival will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Red Baron Arena & Expo (1651 Victory Drive, Marshall, MN).

The event brings together breweries and wineries from across the state under one roof, offering attendees the chance to sample a wide array of Minnesota-made beverages in a commemorative tasting glass.

Hosted by Visit Marshall and Tall Grass Liquor, the festival will also feature yard games, concessions, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere — all indoors at the spacious arena. It’s a perfect setting to discover new favorites, meet the makers, and enjoy a curated experience centered around local craftsmanship.

Over the years, the Made in Minnesota Festival has grown steadily, with vendor participation nearly doubling since its inception. In past events, more than 40 breweries and wineries have taken part, showcasing everything from bold IPAs and smooth lagers to crisp whites and fruit-forward reds.

The festival doesn’t just spotlight Minnesota’s thriving craft beverage industry — it also serves as a boost to the Marshall area economy.

Many attendees travel from outside the region, making it a weekend getaway with added stops at local restaurants, shops, and hotels.

Unlike large-scale metro festivals, Made in Minnesota offers a more intimate and affordable experience. The smaller size means more opportunities to engage with vendors, less crowding, and a laid-back vibe that appeals to both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts.
