Pickup Rolls After Early Morning Crash With Semi in Renville County

police

A rollover crash involving a pickup truck and a semi took place early Thursday morning in Renville County, about eight miles south of Danube.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred at approximately 5:45 AM on County Road 1, just north of County Road 4. A 2015 Ford F150, driven by 46-year-old Ryan Hendrickson of Richland, Washington, was found overturned in a ditch.

A 2018 Freightliner semi, operated by 43-year-old Wade Hillmer of Redwood Falls, was stopped on the shoulder of the road nearby.

According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the pickup was traveling southbound when it veered into the northbound lane and struck the rear trailer tires of the semi, leading to the rollover.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were able to exit their vehicles on their own. Hendrickson sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. Hillmer was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation. Emergency response was provided by Danube Fire and Rescue, Danube MRU, Olivia Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol.

American-Born Pope Leo XIV Welcomed by US Catholic Leaders

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has formally welcomed Pope Leo XIV as the new leader of the global Catholic Church, offering prayers of gratitude for his election.

USCCB president Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio issued a statement expressing the organization’s support and highlighting Pope Leo XIV’s international background.

The new pontiff has served in various roles around the world, including in Rome, Peru, and within the Vatican’s Dicastery for Bishops.

Broglio acknowledged the significance of the pope's American roots, while emphasizing that his role now transcends national identity.

The bishops expressed hope that the new pope’s emphasis on peace, unity, and missionary engagement would guide the Church’s path forward.

The Archdiocese of Chicago plans to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the election of Pope Leo XIV.

Meanwhile, other Church leaders are also reflecting on the pope’s selection.

Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester noted that while the election of an American pope may have come as a surprise, Pope Leo XIV's broad experience in administration, missionary work, canon law, and leadership within the Augustinian order made him a compelling choice for the role.

His previous position as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops provided him with a global network and deep familiarity with Church leadership.
