One Dead After Car Collides with Tractor and Burns in Redwood County

Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that occurred late Sunday night in Redwood Falls Township, where a vehicle collided with a parked tractor and burst into flames.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 11:30 PM on April 27 to the area near Minnesota State Highway 19 and County Road 17 after receiving reports of a vehicle fire.
Upon arrival, responders found a 2014 Subaru Outback had veered off the road and struck a stationary John Deere tractor on private property. Both the car and the tractor were engulfed in flames.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters discovered the driver of the Subaru deceased inside the vehicle.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Minnesota State Patrol, Redwood Falls Police Department, Centra Care Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Two-Year Highway 19 Overhaul Begins with Ceremonial Kickoff

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, May 2, at 10:30 AM to mark the start of the Highway 19/College Drive Reconstruction Project in Marshall.
The event will be held at the Marshall City Lot near the intersection of Highway 19 and West Saratoga Street.
The $25.7 million infrastructure project aims to enhance safety, accessibility, and roadway longevity along a major corridor in the city.
Construction, managed by R and G Construction, is set to begin on May 5, 2025, and will cover the stretch from Marlene Street to the Bruce Street intersection.
Work will pause for the winter on October 26, 2025, and resume in spring 2026. The project is expected to be completed by October 30, 2026. Planning and design efforts have been ongoing since 2019.
The ceremony will feature remarks from local, state, and federal representatives, including elected officials and transportation leaders.
Additional details and a full project layout can be found at mndot.gov/d8/projects/hwy19marshall.
