Nine Hospitalized Following Crash in Redwood County

police

A collision involving two vehicles sent nine people to the hospital Sunday afternoon in Redwood County, according to information from the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:20 PM at the intersection of State Highway 68 and County Road 10.

A 2017 Jeep Cherokee was headed west on Highway 68, while a 2015 GMC Acadia was traveling north on County Road 10 when the vehicles collided.

The GMC driver, a 47-year-old woman from Chandler, along with six passengers ranging in age from five to twenty-one, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening.

All were transported to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Jeep's driver, a 36-year-old woman from Minneota, and her 26-year-old passenger, also from Minneota, were similarly injured and taken to a hospital in Tracy.

Several agencies assisted at the scene, including the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, local fire and rescue departments from Lucan, Wabasso, Walnut Grove, and Tracy, as well as CentraCare and North Memorial ambulance services.

End of an Era: Patzer’s Hardware to Close Retail Operations

Patzer’s Hardware Hank, a longstanding presence in downtown Marshall since 1969, is preparing to wind down its hardware, appliance, and furniture business.

The move comes as co-owner Lyle Patzer and his wife, Rose, plan a relocation to be closer to family in the Twin Cities area.

The family has acknowledged the many years of community support, highlighting the store's long-standing role in the lives of local residents.

Over the past 58 years, the business has not only supplied essential household items but has also become a part of the fabric of the town.

While the hardware side of the operation will close, the Patzer family will continue to have a presence on Main Street.

Mark and Austin Patzer will lead the next chapter, focusing on outdoor power equipment and small engine repair services. The business will continue selling and servicing equipment brands such as Toro, with plans to grow its offerings in this niche.

The liquidation process is expected to take several months. Once complete, the current store space will be repurposed to support the expanding outdoor equipment division.

The store’s history dates back to its beginnings as a Gambles store, founded by Archie and Bea Patzer.

In 1987, it transitioned to the Hardware Hank brand and has since adapted through various changes in the retail landscape, including its move to West Main Street in the 1980s.
