Tracy Schools Locked Down During Search for Armed Suspect

A man from Marshall was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon following threats that led to a lockdown of multiple schools in Tracy and a large-scale law enforcement response.
The Tracy Police Department received a report around 4 PM on April 15 regarding public threats involving a firearm.
When the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Alec Joseph Jahn, was not immediately located, officers from several agencies joined the search effort.
As a safety measure, Tracy Elementary School, Tracy Kids World, and Tracy High School were placed on lockdown.
Jahn was eventually found hiding in a wooded area just north of Tracy High School and was arrested without resistance. Authorities recovered a handgun at the scene.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including sheriff’s offices from Lyon, Lincoln, Redwood, and Murray counties, as well as police departments from Walnut Grove and Lamberton.
The Minnesota State Patrol and Department of Natural Resources were also involved.
The following day, Jahn appeared in Lyon County District Court facing charges of making terroristic threats and carrying a pistol without a permit.
Bail was set at $50,000 without conditions or $20,000 with conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 29.
Detour Coming for Highway 23 as Bridge Project Kicks Off

While reconstruction on College Drive is set to begin soon, it’s not the only roadwork scheduled for the Marshall area in May.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is also planning a resurfacing project for two bridges near Green Valley, which will require a detour for drivers.
At an open house held in Marshall on Wednesday, MnDOT shared details about the upcoming work. The project involves updating the surface, approach panels, and guardrails on two Highway 23 bridges that cross the Redwood River and Threemile Creek.
These bridges are located just over four and six miles north of Highway 19 in Marshall.
As part of the project, MnDOT will remove the existing asphalt overlay on the bridge decks and make necessary repairs to the underlying concrete. The new surface will consist of concrete decks.
Both bridges are over 40 years old, and the improvements aim to extend their lifespan and enhance safety.
According to MnDOT, Highway 23 will be closed between Marshall and Cottonwood starting around May 12.
During construction, traffic will be detoured via Highway 19 and Lyon County Road 9. The project is expected to be completed by August.
