Highway Intersection Crash Injures 16-Year-Old Driver

A 16-year-old from Canby was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and Minnesota Highway 68, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash occurred at 2:02 p.m. when a Chevy Colorado, traveling south on Highway 75, collided with a Ford Sport Trac heading west on Highway 68.
The impact resulted in non-life-threatening injuries for the teen driver, who was transported to Sanford Canby Hospital.
The driver of the Ford, a 23-year-old from West Dundee, Illinois, was not injured.
Emergency responders from the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Canby Fire Department, and Canby Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Recycling with a Purpose: EZ-Build Creates Hunting and Fishing Shelters from Scrap Panels

What started as a simple recycling question turned into a new business venture for Dave Hoff. While driving through Cottonwood, he noticed discarded structural insulated panels (SIPs) at a local business and began wondering if they could be put to better use.
Now, through his new company, EZ-Build, Hoff is repurposing these panels to create custom structures such as deer hunting stands and ice fishing houses.
His innovative approach to reusing waste materials was on display at the 2025 Marshall Home Show, where he was one of more than 70 vendors.
The event, held at the Red Baron Arena and Expo, attracted hundreds of visitors over the weekend despite rainy weather.
Attendees explored a variety of home and outdoor project ideas, with exhibitors showcasing everything from home exteriors and custom cabinetry to golf carts and boats.
At his booth, Hoff displayed a raised structure built from repurposed SIPs, demonstrating how the panels could be used for different applications. The panels, made from a layer of foam sandwiched between composite board, arrive in various shapes and sizes, allowing for flexible design possibilities.
EZ-Build offers materials for DIY projects, collaborates with customers on builds, or creates custom-made structures.
Beyond promoting sustainable building, Hoff has also incorporated a charitable aspect into EZ-Build. A portion of the company’s proceeds—about 25%—will be donated to charity, making his venture not only eco-friendly but also community-focused.
EZ-Build launched in the spring of 2024 and continues to grow, offering a creative solution for repurposing building materials while giving back to the community.
