Seven Injured, Including Five Kids, in Highway 23 Crash

police

Seven people, including five children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 in Lyon County on Friday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The accident occurred around 12:33 p.m. when a Ford Escape and a Chrysler Town & Country, both traveling northbound, collided near the intersection of 220th Street.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old from Lynd, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Marshall Regional Medical Center.

The Chrysler's driver, a 42-year-old from Balaton, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries along with five child passengers, ages 5 through 14. All were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Emergency responders from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lynd Fire Department, North Ambulance, and Balaton Ambulance assisted at the scene.

U.S. Bancorp Executive Believed to Be Victim in Brooklyn Park Plane Crash

A plane crash in Brooklyn Park on Saturday afternoon resulted in the death of the pilot, who is believed to be Terry Dolan, a top executive at U.S. Bancorp.

The single-engine SOCATA TBM aircraft went down around 12:20 p.m., striking a home on Kyle Avenue and igniting a massive fire. Federal officials confirmed that the pilot was the sole occupant and the only fatality.

The aircraft was registered to DGW Enterprises, LLC, a company managed by Dolan according to state records.

U.S. Bancorp acknowledged that the plane was registered to Dolan, 63, who served as vice chair and chief administration officer.

While the medical examiner has not officially confirmed his identity, the company expressed condolences to his family and gratitude that no residents were harmed.

The flight had departed from Des Moines International Airport at 11:12 a.m., en route to Anoka County-Blaine Airport before crashing.

The plane struck the roof from the southeast, but the home’s residents escaped unharmed—one was outside walking a dog, and the other managed to get out from the kitchen.

Dolan had been with U.S. Bancorp for years, taking on multiple leadership roles before becoming chief administration officer in 2023.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
