Semi and Pickup Collision Near Ivanhoe Leaves One Critically Injured

A two-vehicle crash near Ivanhoe on Monday afternoon left three people injured, including a Lake Benton man who sustained life-threatening injuries.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 75 around 2:30 PM, involving a 2024 Freightliner semi and a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup.
The driver of the pickup, a 58-year-old man from Lake Benton, was transported to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls with critical injuries.
The semi’s driver, a 38-year-old man from Philadelphia, along with a 35-year-old passenger, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital in Hendricks.
Two small children, also in the semi, were unharmed.
Emergency crews from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Ivanhoe Fire Department, Ivanhoe Ambulance, and Hendricks Ambulance responded to the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Avera Marshall Welcomes Former Heartland Eyecare Providers

The former Heartland Eyecare Center in Marshall has officially closed, but patients can continue receiving care from Dr. J.D. Ries and Dr. Renae Ries at the Avera Marshall campus on Bruce Street.
As of February 3, the Rieses have joined Avera Marshall Southwest Ophthalmology, a transition that follows the sale of Heartland Eyecare Centers to Avera Marshall about a year ago.
They will continue to see patients at Avera Marshall while also providing services at Heartland Eyecare clinics in Canby and Dawson.
The move aligns with Avera’s efforts to streamline its eye care services in southwest Minnesota.
Beginning March 1, Avera Marshall Southwest Ophthalmology, Avera Medical Group Optometry, and Heartland Eye Care Centers will operate under the unified name of Avera Eye Care.
The rebranding will apply to locations in Marshall, Canby, Dawson, Redwood Falls, Springfield, and Tracy.
Avera Marshall plans to roll out updated signs and branding at all locations in the coming months, aiming to simplify access to care and highlight the collective expertise of its eye care professionals.
J.D. and Renae Ries have served optometry patients in the area for more than 20 years.
They first joined Heartland Eyecare Centers in 1998 before purchasing the clinics in 2001.
