Search and Rescue Teams Recover Hunter and Dog in Sacred Heart Area

A 70-year-old hunter and his dog were safely recovered following a coordinated search effort on Monday, December 30, according to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.

The man, identified as James Knutson, was reported overdue at approximately 5:50 PM after failing to return home from a pheasant hunting trip near Renville County Road 12 and 810th Avenue, about three miles southeast of Sacred Heart, MN.

Friends and law enforcement located Knutson’s vehicle near the Sacred Heart Waterfowl Protection Area, a 700-acre public hunting site.
