Snowy Roads and Alcohol Factor in Crash Injuring Canby Family

A rollover crash on Highway 14 near Revere on Friday night left a Canby man and two young passengers injured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. as a 1999 Ford F150, traveling westbound, lost control near the intersection with Garden Avenue.

The truck entered the ditch and overturned on roads covered with snow and ice.

The driver, 41-year-old Nolan Nelson of Canby, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Tracy.

Two passengers, girls aged 10 and 12, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the same hospital.

The State Patrol confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Emergency responders from the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Lamberton Fire Department, Lamberton Ambulance, and Walnut Grove Ambulance assisted at the scene.

“Farming Your Way" Conference Offers Tools for Women in Agriculture

The 2025 Extension Women in Ag Conference, organized by the University of Minnesota Women in Ag Network in collaboration with the Minnesota Farm Service Agency, is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

The event, themed “Farming Your Way, Creating Balance,” will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Park Event Center in Waite Park, Minnesota.

This annual gathering is designed to provide practical insights for farmers and agricultural professionals at every stage of their careers.

Topics will range from managing farm business finances and healthy soils to marketing agricultural products and integrating childcare strategies into farm operations.

Attendees can also explore strategies for balancing family life with the demands of farming, setting meaningful goals, and building resilience in the agricultural sector.

The conference offers diverse learning opportunities, including discussions on pasture management, integrating crops and livestock, leveraging Minnesota Department of Agriculture grants, and managing a farm’s social media presence.

With its broad focus, the event aims to cater to a wide audience, from aspiring farmers to seasoned professionals.

For 2025, two micro-grants are available through the Minnesota Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier, with efforts underway to expand scholarship opportunities through sponsorships.
