Championship Glory: Minneota Vikings Bring Home 10th State Title

Minneota will soon add "2024" to its list of state titles displayed on the town's Highway 68 billboard.
The Vikings football team secured their third consecutive Class A state championship and 10th overall Friday morning at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
In a commanding 70-20 victory over Springfield, the Vikings demonstrated their dominance with a relentless performance, scoring three touchdowns in three separate quarters.
This historic game marked the first time in 52 years that the same two teams faced off in the championship for three consecutive seasons.
The win is a testament to Minneota's tradition of excellence in athletics. The town, with a population of about 1,300, takes immense pride in its athletes, who consistently shine on the state's biggest stages.
Residents gathered at local spots like City Hall Bar and Grill to watch the game and celebrate another chapter in the Vikings’ storied history.
Minneota’s football legacy is built on hard work, dedication, and community spirit.
From the players on the field to the fans cheering them on, the team’s success is deeply woven into the fabric of the town.
The Vikings' coach, Chad Johnston, is widely praised as a mentor and role model, cultivating a culture of excellence and teamwork that has persisted through the years.
Even local businesses joined in the celebration. At Gislason Ace Hardware, the sense of pride extended beyond the scoreboard. The football players, known for their humility and politeness, exemplify the values that make Minneota special.
The team capped off its season undefeated for the second year in a row, extending its winning streak to 26 games, with the last loss dating back to October 19, 2022.
The Vikings' 13-0 record this year reflects not only athletic prowess but also the resilience and unity of a community that rallies behind them.
This latest championship isn’t just about a trophy; it symbolizes the strength of Minneota's community spirit and showcases what a small town can achieve when its people work together. For the players, it’s a lesson in leadership, teamwork, and determination—qualities they’ll carry with them far beyond the field.
As Minneota celebrates this victory, the town looks forward to adding yet another accomplishment to its storied legacy, proving once again that greatness thrives in even the smallest of places.
CredibleMind: Accessible, Confidential Mental Health Tools for Southwest MN
Southwest Health and Human Services (SWHHS) has unveiled CredibleMind, a free digital platform providing mental health resources and support for residents in Lincoln, Lyon, Redwood, Pipestone, Murray, and Rock Counties.
The initiative addresses a critical need for mental health services identified during a five-year community health assessment.
CredibleMind offers a diverse collection of professionally reviewed resources, including articles, videos, podcasts, and self-assessments on topics such as stress management, parenting, sleep improvement, and more.
These materials are available in both English and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a broader audience.
Beyond educational resources, the platform connects users with local mental health and counseling services across the six-county region.
One of CredibleMind’s standout features is its commitment to confidentiality. Users can explore the platform anonymously, and no individual data is tracked or shared. Aggregate data will only be used to enhance future services offered by SWHHS.
The platform aligns with SWHHS’s mission to provide 24/7 access to mental health resources, particularly for rural areas where traditional services are often limited.
Similar initiatives in other Minnesota counties, such as Olmsted and Waseca, have demonstrated positive outcomes, and public health officials anticipate comparable success in southwest Minnesota.
Funding for CredibleMind reflects SWHHS’s dedication to addressing the growing prevalence of mental health concerns in the region. The service’s first year is supported by an annual subscription cost of $13,000, which will increase to $21,000 in subsequent years.
Area residents are encouraged to explore the platform at swmn.crediblemind.com, where they can access resources or create a free account.
With its wide-ranging tools and confidential, user-friendly approach, CredibleMind is poised to be a valuable resource for the community.
