Ivanhoe Man Arrested in Meth Trafficking Case After Package Intercepted

A narcotics search in Ivanhoe on Tuesday led to the arrest of 59-year-old Joseph Alan Anderson, following an investigation conducted by the Buffalo Ridge Drug and Violent Crime Task Force (BRDVCTF), with support from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities intercepted a suspicious package addressed to Anderson from Henderson, Nevada, at a postal facility in Windom.

Utilizing a K9 unit, the package was flagged for controlled substances. A federal search warrant confirmed the package contained approximately 126 grams of methamphetamine.

Law enforcement delivered the package to Anderson’s apartment as part of their operation. A subsequent search of the residence uncovered evidence pointing to drug trafficking activities.

Items found included digital scales, baggies containing methamphetamine, and two rounds of .270 caliber ammunition.

As a convicted felon, Anderson is prohibited from possessing ammunition, further complicating his legal situation. Anderson now faces charges of first-degree controlled substance possession and possession of ammunition by an ineligible person.

During a bail hearing on Wednesday, bail was set at $90,000 without conditions or $60,000 with conditions. If released under conditions, Anderson would be subject to travel restrictions and random drug testing.

This case highlights ongoing efforts by local and federal authorities to combat drug trafficking in the region.
