Marshall Woman to Face December Plea Hearing for Alleged Financial Crimes

A Marshall woman, Rikki Kor, is set to appear for a plea hearing on December 10 in Lyon County District Court.

Kor, 49, faces multiple charges, including 20 counts of check forgery, 14 counts of financial card fraud, and two counts of theft by check. Allegations claim she embezzled significant funds while employed as an accountant at KHC Construction in 2023 and 2024.

Kor is accused of forging checks and misusing a company credit card for unauthorized purchases.

The Lyon County Attorney’s Office has signaled its intent to seek an aggravated sentence, citing the severity of the alleged crimes as a “major economic offense.”

This designation considers factors such as repeated incidents and substantial financial losses.

Court records also indicate that Kor was granted permission to visit her daughter in South Dakota before her plea hearing.

A request by her attorney to set the plea hearing was approved, with the court scheduling the date for December 12.

Free Mental Health Resources Now Available to Southwest Minnesota Residents

Southwest Health and Human Services (SWHHS) has introduced CredibleMind, a free digital platform designed to provide mental health resources and support to residents in Lincoln, Lyon, Redwood, Pipestone, Murray, and Rock Counties.

This initiative follows a five-year community health assessment highlighting a significant demand for mental health services across the region.

CredibleMind offers a wide range of resources, including articles, videos, podcasts, and self-assessments.

Topics cover:

  • stress management

  • parenting

  • sleep improvement

  • and more…

all available in both English and Spanish.

In addition, the site connects users to local mental health and counseling services in the six-county area. Importantly, all resources are professionally reviewed to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Confidentiality is a key feature of the platform.

Users can explore the site anonymously, and aggregate data collected will only be used to help SWHHS improve future offerings. Individual user data is neither tracked nor shared.

The platform also aligns with SWHHS’s mission to make mental health resources accessible 24/7, particularly in rural areas where traditional services may be limited.

Public health teams have recognized CredibleMind’s success in other Minnesota counties, including Olmsted and Waseca, and anticipate similar benefits for southwest Minnesota.

To support the service, SWHHS has committed to an annual subscription cost of $13,000 for the first year, increasing to $21,000 for subsequent years.

Public Health Director Carol Biren emphasized the program’s value in addressing the growing prevalence of mental health concerns in the area.

Area residents are encouraged to visit swmn.crediblemind.com to explore the resources or create a free account.
