Tragic Crash on Highway 212 Leaves One Dead, Four Injured, Including Two Young Children

A tragic two-vehicle collision on Highway 212 in Lac Qui Parle County on Friday resulted in one fatality and left four others injured, including two young children.
Around 10:41 AM in Riverside Township, a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup, traveling eastbound, collided with a 2020 GMC Terrain SUV moving westbound.
Dale Jerome Monnens, the 60-year-old driver of the Ford from Madison, died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The accident report indicated Monnens was not wearing a seatbelt.
His passenger, 64-year-old Tamara A. Monnens, also from Madison, was injured but sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Dawson hospital for treatment.
Rebecca Leigh Ramberg, the 33-year-old driver of the GMC from Dawson, along with her two young passengers under the age of two, were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Local emergency response teams, including the Lac Qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office, Dawson-Boyd Police Department, Dawson Ambulance, and Dawson Fire Department, responded to the scene, ensuring the injured received prompt medical assistance.
Parking Lots, Parks, and More: Marshall Completes 2024 Projects
Marshall has nearly completed a busy construction season, aided by favorable late-season weather.
This summer saw major upgrades to the Addison and Independence parking lots, with new paving to improve safety and accessibility.
New bus shelters and ADA-compliant sidewalks were added across the city through a partnership with UCAP, while South Whitney Street saw infrastructure enhancements to improve stormwater management.
Recreation spaces received attention, with grant-funded upgrades planned for park facilities and sports venues like American Legion Field.
Additionally, a new snow removal equipment facility at the regional airport is underway, with completion expected in 2025.
