$4.4M Highway 59 Project Finished, Traffic Resumes with ADA Upgrades

Highway 59 south of Marshall and Garvin is now open after a comprehensive concrete repair and improvement project, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced.
The $4.4 million project by Interstate Improvement, Inc., included extensive road surface repairs, as well as upgrades to sidewalks and pedestrian crossings in Marshall, aligning with ADA standards.
These enhancements included key intersections on Highway 19, improving accessibility and safety.
All detours and barriers are expected to be cleared, fully reopening the route for traffic.
Early Voters Surge in Lyon County: Over 2,700 Ballots Cast So Far
Lyon County is seeing a record level of early voting as Election Day nears, with 2,750 ballots already cast—a substantial increase from previous years.
The rise is partly due to expanded mail-in options in 18 out of 33 precincts, including several rural townships and small cities.
Extended voting hours at the Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer’s Office provide added flexibility for voters, with specific weekend and evening hours leading up to Election Day.
Voters can choose in-person, mail-in, or absentee ballots, with clear guidelines on deadlines.
For residents still planning to vote, resources on absentee ballot requests, registration, and ballot tracking are available online, ensuring all have the opportunity to participate.
