Up to $2,000 in Scholarships for Future Law Enforcement Professionals – Apply by Nov. 15

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association (MSA), is launching the 2024 Law Enforcement Scholarship Program to support students pursuing careers in law enforcement.
Up to 18 scholarships, each worth $2,000, will be awarded to eligible students enrolled in either the POST Skills Program or in the second half of a two- or four-year criminal justice degree.
This program aims to encourage and support future law enforcement professionals in Minnesota.
Applications must be submitted by 4:00 PM on November 15, 2024, and can be delivered in person or by mail to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Winners will be announced by December 30, 2024.
To qualify, students must be in good academic standing and have completed at least one year of a two-year law enforcement program or two years of a four-year criminal justice program.
Sheriff Eric Wallen emphasized the importance of the program in attracting and supporting new talent in the field. The scholarship also reflects a broader commitment by the state’s 87 elected sheriffs to support and strengthen law enforcement education.
Applications can be accessed online at www.mnsheriffs.org or obtained directly from local sheriff's offices.
The program is a great opportunity for students with a passion for public service to gain financial assistance while completing their law enforcement training.
For more details, applicants are encouraged to reach out to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office or visit the MSA website.
