Emerald Ash Borer Threat: Marshall Introduces Tree Replacement Support

Marshall homeowners now have access to the Ash Tree Removal and Replacement Reimbursement Program, which provides financial assistance for the removal of ash trees potentially infested by Emerald Ash Borer.

The program offers up to $200 per tree for removal, with a cap of two trees per property, and up to $100 per replacement tree, for a maximum of four trees.

Eligible homeowners must use licensed contractors, and the reimbursement is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Receipts can be submitted to the city’s Community Services Department for processing.

There’s a lot going on this weekend in the Marshall area - with events for the whole family!

HyVee Customer Appreciation

  • Time: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Location: Marshall HyVee

HyVee is treating its customers to a free lunch! Stop by for a complimentary hamburger or hotdog, chips, and a bottle of water as a thank you for your support.

Cottonwood Fall & Vendor Craft Show

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Location: Lakeview Schools, Cottonwood

This is the 24th annual craft show, featuring over 75 vendors with handcrafted items and goods. In addition to unique crafts, there’s a soup fundraiser where proceeds benefit the Lakeview Backpack Program, providing meals for local students.

Oktoberfest in Montevideo

  • Time: All day event

  • Location: Talking Waters Brewing, 205 S 1st St, Montevideo

Celebrate Oktoberfest with live music, German-inspired food specials, games, and of course, Oktoberfest beers! Try their special Märzen and Festbier, and grab an Oktoberfest mug to enjoy $1 off all fills. The perfect fall festival for beer lovers and families alike!

Cottonwood Fire Department Annual Open House

  • Time: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Location: Cottonwood Fire Department

Bring the family for a fun open house event featuring pumpkin picking and painting, fire truck rides, cookie decorating, and a free hotdog and hamburger meal. Each child gets a free pumpkin to take home!

Marshall Gun Show

  • Time: Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Location: Red Baron Arena & Expo, Marshall

Head to the 7th annual Marshall Gun Show, featuring a variety of vendors. Admission is $5 for adults, and kids 12 and under get in free.

Iverson Tree Farm 6th Annual Fall Festival

  • Time: Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • Location: Iverson Tree Farm

Celebrate the fall season with pumpkin patches, bouncy houses, wagon rides, and much more at this expansive 72-acre farm. With activities like corn mazes, zip lines, and a pumpkin slingshot, there’s fun for all ages. Tickets are $10 per person, or $40 per immediate family.

Grab your family and friends, and explore one or all the local events, and make the most of this beautiful fall weekend.
