Fatal Crash Near Granite Falls Claims Cottonwood Resident

A Cottonwood man, Robert Proctor, tragically died in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi truck on Thursday in Yellow Medicine County.

The incident occurred around 4:06 PM at the intersection of County Road 8 and 250th Avenue.

Proctor's 1997 Ford F150 failed to yield and collided with a 2010 Peterbilt semi hauling gravel.

Both vehicles ended up in a ditch southwest of the intersection.

Proctor was pronounced dead at the scene and transported for an autopsy.

The semi driver, Mark Oftedahl, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Avera Granite Falls Hospital.

Emergency responders from Clarkfield, Granite Falls, and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene.

Dr. Kathleen Jordan Project: Honoring a Life of Service and Compassion

The community of Granite Falls, Minnesota, is set to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Kathleen Jordan through a special multi-day event known as The Dr. Kathleen Jordan Project.

This heartfelt tribute will feature a series of displays, exhibits, speakers, and other engaging activities spread across three significant venues: the KK Berge Building, The YES House, and the United Church of Christ.

The exhibits aim to educate visitors about the remarkable character and humanitarian efforts of Dr. Jordan. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore photographs and memorabilia from various stages of her life, including her early years in French Algeria, her college days, medical school experiences, and insights into her professional work and personal life.

These displays will paint a vivid picture of a woman dedicated to making a positive impact on the world around her.

An important facet of the project is the inclusion of stories and experiences of sanatorium patients, highlighting one of the many areas where Dr. Jordan made significant contributions.

Through these narratives, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by patients and the compassionate care provided by Dr. Jordan.
