Legion Field Renovations Approved: Council Moves Forward with $254K Project

Plans for upgrading the dugout and backstop at Legion Field in Marshall are set to move forward following approval from the Marshall City Council.
The project, estimated at around $254,000, is part of a phased approach to modernize the baseball facilities, which haven't seen major updates in over 35 years.
Despite reaching out to multiple local contractors, the city received only one bid due to time constraints. After further discussions, the bid was adjusted to a more feasible amount, allowing the project to proceed within the budget.
Funding will be covered by a mix of bonding dollars, donations, and the city’s capital improvement plan, with additional funds allocated for future improvements.
The council's approval clears the way for construction to begin, ensuring the much-needed renovations at Legion Field can take place.
True Light Christian School's New Era: High School Program Welcomes First Freshmen Class
True Light Christian School marked a significant milestone by opening its doors to its first-ever class of high school students, ushering in a new era for the school.
This expansion was made possible through a partnership with Grace Life Church, which remodeled the east side of its building to create a dedicated space for high schoolers.
The updated facility includes a modern learning commons area, complete with flexible seating, contemporary furniture, and abundant natural light.
The inaugural class consists of 12 freshmen, with plans to expand by adding a new grade each year. Interest from additional families and students suggests a promising future for the high school program.
The curriculum combines both in-person and online instruction, with a focus on key subjects like math, science, physical education, health, and Bible studies conducted on-site.
Other subjects, such as social studies and English, are offered through asynchronous online learning. The learning commons serves as a central hub for student activities, overseen by a full-time learning coach to support their academic progress.
In partnership with NorthStar Academy, True Light offers students access to a broad range of elective courses, allowing for a more customized education experience.
Graduates will earn a diploma accredited by Cognia and the Association of Christian Schools International.
Beyond academics, True Light remains committed to fostering spiritual growth. Students will participate in weekly chapel services and various school activities within the church's congregation space.
As True Light Christian School embarks on this new journey, it continues to provide a Christ-centered environment that nurtures students through their formative high school years.
