Semi-Truck and Motorhome Collision on Highway 67 Injures Two

Two people were injured in a collision involving a semi-truck and a motorhome on Highway 67 in Redwood County on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The accident occurred around 3:02 p.m. when a 2007 Kenworth semi-truck, heading east on State Highway 67, collided with a 1999 Ford motorhome traveling south on County Road 13 at the intersection.
The driver of the motorhome, 77-year-old Marilyn Kay Lacourse from Springfield, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Redwood hospital.
The semi-truck driver, 26-year-old Sergio Salazar Barron from Cadereyta, Mexico, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Responding to the scene were the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office, Lower Sioux Police Department, Morgan Police Department, CentraCare Ambulance, and the Morgan Fire and Ambulance services.
Cottonwood, Balaton, Ghent, Russell Extend Law Enforcement Services

Lyon County has confirmed law enforcement services for the cities of Cottonwood, Balaton, Ghent, and Russell, following the approval of new contracts by county commissioners this week.
These contracts, which extend through the next three years, were agreed upon after commissioners adjusted the rate increases to 3% in 2025, 3.15% in 2026, and 3.25% in 2027, addressing concerns from some cities about the initial proposed hikes.
Each city will receive a specified amount of patrol hours per week tailored to their needs. Cottonwood is set to receive 40 hours weekly, starting at around $105,000 in 2025.
Balaton will have 30 hours per week with an initial fee of about $79,000, while Ghent and Russell will each receive 10 hours weekly, beginning at approximately $26,000.
These contracts allow the Sheriff’s Office to determine the patrol schedules and methods, ensuring that law enforcement services are effectively managed.
The swift approval of these contracts by the cities demonstrates their commitment to maintaining public safety while managing costs.
The new agreements ensure that the cities will continue to benefit from dedicated law enforcement services in the coming years.
