Fatal Accident: 61-Year-Old Man Discovered in Rural Minnesota Grain Bin

A tragic incident occurred early Tuesday morning near Lamberton, Minnesota, where a man was found dead inside a grain bin.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched around 1:46 a.m. to assist in locating a missing person.

As they headed to the rural residence, they received an update that the individual had been found in the grain bin.

Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed the death of 61-year-old Eric Kronback. It appears Kronback suffered fatal injuries while attempting to clear a small amount of grain from the bin.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with support from the Lamberton Fire Department and Ambulance Service.

This unfortunate event has left the community in mourning as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Kronback's death.

Voters Face Choices in Marshall’s Mayoral and Council Races

Marshall's fall elections will feature some contested races. Incumbent Mayor Bob Byrnes will face off against challenger Noel Ayala, while three candidates—Dereck Deutz, Amanda Schwartz, and David Sturrock—are competing for a seat in Ward 2 of the City Council.

In the school board race, six candidates are vying for three open seats on the Marshall Public Schools Board, including current members Matt Coleman and Anne Marie Vorbach.

Elsewhere in Lyon County, several towns will hold elections for mayoral and council positions, with notable races in Cottonwood, Russell, and Tracy. Cottonwood has no candidates for mayor but two for city council, while Russell has a contested mayoral race between Hilary Buchert and Kristi Wiese. School board elections will also be held in several districts, with multiple seats up for grabs.

For more information on candidates and races, voters can visit the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website.
