Celebrate Crazy Days: Exciting Events and Deals Await on Main Street

Main Street is going to be buzzing from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM for a fun-filled event that's free for everyone!

You can expect food trucks, awesome deals from local restaurants and shops, kids' activities, and entertainment all day long.

Plus, Thursdays on Third, the farmers market with live music, will be happening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The shops and restaurants on Main Street will be out on the street with great deals and activities. There's a ton more vendors this year compared to last, so there will be plenty to see and do.

For families, there will be arts and crafts, a petting zoo from 4 - 6 PM, a kiddie parade at 10:30 AM, and a candy drop at 3:30 PM. After the kiddie parade, there’s a dance party for the kids with popsicles on the terrace – which was a huge hit last year!

The weather looks perfect for Crazy Days, with temps around 70 degrees - and no rain in the forecast.

Jungle Thrills and Broadway Skills: "Tarzan" at Lake Benton Opera House

The Lake Benton Opera House is bringing “Tarzan” to life this week, with performances running from July 17-21 and July 24-28.

Based on the Disney animated movie, the stage version of “Tarzan” tells the story of a boy raised by apes, featuring songs you know and love, along with some new ones. Tarzan, who is taken in by a family of gorillas after being orphaned, struggles to find his place until human explorers turn his world upside down.

The crew has worked hard to transform the stage into a jungle, complete with mist and swinging vines. The cast, portraying the gorilla family, moves in crouched postures and wears costumes that mimic fur.

One cast member, playing young Terk, had a blast with all the fun experiences, including swinging on a vine on stage. Practice makes perfect when it comes to swinging through the jungle!

Another actor, playing adult Tarzan, found it exciting to dive into his role. Although Tarzan doesn’t have many lines, he had to master "ape language" and use a lot of physical acting. There are some funny moments when Tarzan mimics other humans, adding a lot of charm to his character.

Jane Porter, the naturalist, is always talking to herself, and her love of nature shines through in her songs. One song in particular, "Waiting for This Moment," features plenty of tricky Latin plant names, making it both challenging and fun to sing.

One actor, who plays Jane’s father, enjoyed participating in the show with his two kids, highlighting the fun of acting together with the cast.

“Tarzan” performances will be at 7:30 PM on July 17-20 and 24-26, and at 2:00 PM on July 21, 27, and 28. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. You can grab your tickets online at lboh.org or by calling the box office at 507-368-4620.
