Marshall Aquatic Center Receives $100K for Splash Pad Upgrades

A community donor has pledged up to $100,000 to enhance Marshall's new Aquatic Center, specifically the splash pad.

The Marshall City Council discussed adding programmable water jets to make the splash pad more dynamic.

The enhancements, requiring an $18,000 design update by Stockwell Engineers, would add water valves for various spray patterns and heights, creating fountain-like displays.

This contribution adds to the $600,000 already raised in community sponsorships.

The council approved the updated design agreement, with construction bids expected this summer and ground-breaking planned soon.

Minnesota State Fair 2024: A Culinary Adventure Awaits

The 2024 Minnesota State Fair is gearing up to wow food lovers with a variety of new and inventive dishes. Highlights include:

  • 3 Piggy Pals on a Stick: Smoked sausage, bacon, cream cheese, BBQ sauce, and jalapeño.

  • Afro Poppers: African spiced pastries, deep-fried, with various toppings.

  • Babacon Sour Cream & Onion: Hummus, beef bacon, tater tots, and pita puffs.

  • Blazing Greek Bites: Chickpea and red pepper bites with hummus.

  • Buffalo Cheese Curd Chicken Tacos: Cheese curds, chicken, slaw, and buffalo sauce.

Other exciting offerings include deep-fried ranch dressing, dill pickle tots, and numerous gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options.

With more than 20 new dishes, fairgoers are sure to find something to tantalize their taste buds.
