Flood Watch Issued for Southwest Minnesota, Northwest Iowa, and South Dakota

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, and South Dakota, effective through Friday morning. The areas affected include:

Northwest Iowa: Lyon County

Southwest Minnesota: Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Rock Counties

South Dakota: Aurora, Bon Homme, Brookings, Brule, Charles Mix, Clay, Davison, Douglas, Gregory, Hanson, Hutchinson, Kingsbury, Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, Sanborn, Turner, Yankton Counties

Heavy rainfall, with expected totals of 1 to 2 inches and localized amounts up to 3 to 4 inches, may cause flash flooding.

This will particularly affect poor drainage and urban areas, as well as creeks and streams already running high.

Residents are advised to stay alert to updated forecasts and be ready to take immediate action if flash flood warnings are issued.

Federal Charges Hit Ten Alleged Minneapolis Gang Members

Some big news out of Minneapolis…

Ten alleged gang members have been hit with federal charges, including machine gun possession and drug trafficking.

This is all part of a major effort to curb violent crime in Minnesota, which has been going strong for about two years now.

So far, more than 70 gang members have been charged. The latest investigation uncovered cash, drugs, and 13 firearms.
