Half of Minnesota Schools Lack Access to Licensed Nurses

A recent review by the Minnesota Department of Health has uncovered some critical gaps in school nurse access across our state.

Nearly half of the school districts in Minnesota don't have a school nurse, with smaller districts, charter schools, and those serving low-income families being hit the hardest.

It's shocking to learn that in districts where 40% or more students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, access to school nurses is three times less likely.

Only 49% of districts employ a licensed school nurse, and larger districts are more likely to comply with statutory requirements.
