Once-in-a-Lifetime Elk Hunting Opportunity in Minnesota

Elk hunting in Minnesota offers a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience for lucky hunters who are selected through a lottery system. Using license code 625, applicants can choose their preferred season, zone, and license type. Here’s what you need to know about the application process and hunting seasons:

Application and Lottery

Hunters must decide on a season, zone, and license type when applying. The lottery system provides better odds for those who choose an antlerless license. The seasons and zones are divided as follows:

  • Season A: Either-sex licenses in zone 20.

  • Season B: Antlerless licenses in zone 20.

  • Season C: Either-sex licenses in zone 30.

Minnesota residents can apply individually or in parties of two. It's important to note that a party of two will receive only one elk tag to share, marking it as both individuals’ once-in-a-lifetime hunt.

Mandatory Orientation

Selected elk hunters must attend a mandatory pre-hunt orientation meeting on the Friday before their hunt. This ensures that all participants are well-informed and prepared for the hunt.

Fees

There is a non-refundable application fee of $5 per hunter. For those selected, the total license cost is $288.

Landowner Opportunities
