Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Tracy Man

Late Friday night, a fatal motorcycle accident occurred involving a rural Tracy resident. At around 11:05 PM, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a crash on Lyon County Road 11 in Monroe Township.

Steven Meyer, 55, of Tracy, MN, was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on County Road 11 when he lost control near the Lyon/Murray County Line Road. The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, resulting in downed power lines that obstructed the road. Meyer was declared dead at the scene.

Responders from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Tracy Police Department, Tracy Fire Department, and Tracy Ambulance, attended the scene to provide assistance. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Highway 68 Project Start Delayed: New Date Set for May 20

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced that the start date for the resurfacing project on MN Highway 68 has been delayed by a week due to weather conditions.

Originally scheduled to begin on May 13, the project will now begin on May 20. This construction will cover the stretch between North Grant Street in Minneota and the U.S. Highway 59 intersection in Marshall, and is expected to conclude by June 30.

The city of Ghent is excluded from this phase of the construction. Its section of Highway 68 will be resurfaced in the future.

During the resurfacing, traffic will be maintained with no detours. Flaggers will manage traffic flow. Motorists should anticipate additional travel time, reduce speed in the work zone, and stay vigilant for workers and equipment.
